Specialist Remediation Solutions
Heritage and listed doors often require solutions that differ considerably from those used for modern certificated fire doorsets. Our approach is therefore considered on a door-by-door basis, taking account of the existing construction, condition, architectural features and the works permitted under the relevant approval.
Where original glazed panels must be retained, a specialist fire-resistant glazing system can be installed over the existing glazing without removing or altering the original glass. This incorporates tested components and additional fire-rated glazing to provide a protective system while retaining the original feature.
Where existing recessed timber panels have a reduced thickness, specialist Envirograf intumescent coating systems can be applied to provide additional fire protection. For thinner panels, an intumescent card system may be required, with associated elements such as panel beading treated where applicable.
These specialist applications are undertaken as betterment and remediation measures to the existing door and should not be confused with the certification provided for a new third-party certificated fire doorset.

As Envirograf Accredited Installers, Fire & Safety Works also undertakes specialist intumescent protection works beyond heritage fire doors.

Evidence & Traceability
Specialist remediation and intumescent protection works are supported by comprehensive project documentation, providing a clear evidence trail of the works undertaken.
Depending on the application, documentation can include:
- Detailed Image Reference Sheets, incorporating descriptions of the works and photographic evidence
- Technical datasheets for products, components and fire-rated glazing
- Supporting product and system information
- Envirograf application certification, where applicable
